Sara J. (Ford) Zechman

Sara J. Zechman, 79, of Ft. Littleton, PA, died Saturday, February 4, 2023 at her residence.

Born on December 20, 1943 in Hopewell, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Thelma L. (Speacht) Ford.  She was united in marriage to John Zechman on March 6, 1976.  Mr. Zechman survives at home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Kevin Bowser and wife Missy, Oklahoma City, OK, Michael Bowser and wife Brandi, Oklahoma City, OK and Kimberly Dilts and husband Barry, Newville, PA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Siblings Phyllis Smothermon, Beverly Regi, Wanza Horton, Nancy Lynn and Debbie Reynolds also survive.

Siblings Lillian Sellers, Joy Mixell, Betty Hess, Romona Rutters, Ellsworth “Jim” Ford and Roy Ford preceded in death.

She was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Zechman was employed as Director of Children’s Services, McConnellsburg, PA, taught aerobic classes at the Exercise Room, McConnellsburg, PA, worked at Tri-County Community Action Agency, was the Executive Director of the local American Cancer Society, wrote several grants for the local community and spent 25 years as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Hagerstown, MD.  She was very active physically and enjoyed physical fitness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 13, 2023 at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt Street, Hustontown, PA. Interment will be at 1:00 PM on Monday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
