Patricia Corman Obituary

Patricia L. (Howells) Corman, 87, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Hustontown, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in her home at Menno Village, Chambersburg, PA.

Born April 7, 1935 in Johnstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Nellie A. (Penrod) Howells. In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart Albert R. Corman, Jr., to whom she was united in marriage on August 21, 1954. 

She is survived by four children: David A. Corman, York, PA; Lucinda L. Lopchinsky and husband Joseph, Aston, PA; Daniel L. Corman and wife Patricia, Ijamsville, MD; and Susan Y. Swisher, Chambersburg, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Jeremy Corman and wife Crystal; Laura Lopchinsky; Jason Corman; Adam Swisher and wife Andrea; Alex Swisher; Tyler Corman; and Grant Swisher. There are nine great grandchildren. Patricia is also survived by two brothers: Thomas L. Howells and wife Melinda, McConnellsburg, PA and Harry W. Howells and wife Sundra Lim, Bradenton, FL.

Patricia was a member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg, PA.

After graduating from Windber Area High School in 1953, she attended West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA. She also attended and graduated from the Franklin County Vocational-Technical Nursing Program as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972. Patricia was a health professional for 30 years at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA where she provided care and support to patients in the acute care, emergency and physical therapy departments.

Pat to her family, friends, and colleagues, Mrs. Corman to her admirers, Patricia leaves an enduring legacy as a sharing partner in life and guiding family matriarch, a calm and caring inspiration to her patients, and an individual dedicated to her faith and service to her community. Among her many talents, she is remembered as a compassionate caregiver, a flower gardener, and a listener and trusted advisor. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 South 4th Street, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Elizabeth Thorpe officiating. Interment will be at Berkey Cemetery, Windber, PA. Friends may pay their respects at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt Street, Hustontown, PA from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 8, 2023 and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
