Neil L. Berkstresser

Neil L. Berkstresser, 87, of Harrisonville, PA, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

Born on October, 5, 1936 in Taylor Township, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph E. Berkstresser, Sr. and Ada Maye (Knepper) Berkstresser.  He was united in marriage to Betty June Roher on December 20, 1958.  Mrs. Berkstresser preceded in death on September 13, 2010.

Mr. Berkstresser is survived by three sons, Neil P. Berkstresser and wife Creta of Hustontown, PA, Tim E. Berkstresser and wife Kim, Mercersburg, PA, and Joe L. Berkstresser and wife Cecelia of York, PA. There are 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by sister Nina J. Geesamen and husband Ken.

Mr. Berkstresser was preceded in death by siblings Ralph E. Berkstresser, Jr., Ronald W. Berkstresser, Archie D. Bergstresser, LaRue M. Shaw, Jean L. Cline and Clifford E. Berkstresser.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Berkstresser was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, PA, charter member of the Forbes Road Lions Club and past member of the Forbes Road School Board.

During his lifetime, he was a Vice President at Fulton County National Bank and was a partner with his brother at their business, Berkstresser’s Maytag.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, coffee and watching Gunsmoke.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Fairview United Methodist Church, 2288 North Hess Road, Harrisonville, PA with Rev. Fred Marz and Pastor Becky Cutchall officiating. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, adjacent to the church. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
