Joyce Yokum

Joyce Pearl Knepper (Yokum) age 79, of Sterling, VA died at 8:50 am on Tuesday May 5th, 2026 at Reston Hospital Center. 

Born September 10, 1946 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Norman William Knepper and Esther Viola (Kerlin) Knepper and the sister of the late N. Parker Knepper.  She was the granddaughter of the late William Harry Knepper and Anna Grace (Barnett) Knepper of Three Springs and William Jasper Kerlin and Pearl Stella (Scheidleman) Kerlin of Knobsville, PA.

She graduated from Forbes Road High School in 1964. After graduation, she worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC for 6.5 years. During this time, she met and married her husband, David, in 1968. In 1971, she spent the next 18.5 years working in the private sector. After rearing two children she returned to work for the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA.

She is survived by her husband, David Junior Yokum, two children: Travis William (husband to Darla) Yokum, Leesburg, VA, and Rebecca Linn (wife of Dave) Killmeyer of Palmyra, VA; 6 grandchildren: Ryan Spain and Paul Mrstik, Aubrey and Logan Yokum, Thomas and Samantha Killmeyer, along with many others who loved her.

Funeral services will be on Saturday May 16, 2026 at 11am at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, PA with Pastor Stephen Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Center Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday May 16, 2026 from 9am to 11am at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Center View LIPN PO Box 3, Waterfall PA 16689  or the Hustontown Volunteer Fire Company.
