John S. Hodge, 85, of Fort Littleton Road, Orbisonia, PA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home.
Born July 5, 1938 at Hinton, WV, he was a son of the late Robert and Bernice Hodge. He was united in marriage to the former Charlotte Stains Patterson on January 15, 1972. Mrs. Hodge survives at their home.
He is also survived by six children, John G. Hodge and wife Della, Stanley “Wayne” Hodge and wife Pam, Sena U. Longmire and husband Jeff, James P. Patterson and wife Veronica, Curt A. Patterson and wife Amy and Darryl G. Patterson and wife Katie, daughter in law Dorothy Patterson, wife of the late Wade B. Patterson, nineteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and four siblings, Tom Hodge, Chris Hodge, Upton Hodge and Marge Paradis.
Along with his son Wade, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathaniel, great grandson Parker and siblings, Douglas, Lucille, Victor, Dorothy, Ramona, Steve and Robert.
He graduated from Mays Lick High School, Maysville, KY, received his Master of Ministry Degree from the International Bible Institute and Seminary, his BS in Education and his Masters Degree in Education Administration form Shippensburg University and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Christian Education Administration from University of Louisiana.
Pastor Hodge was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving with the 25th Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division, the Pennsylvania National Guard and the U. S. Army Reserve.
During his life he was involved in many different careers including serving as Pastor of the Dublin Mills Community Church, Hustontown, PA, the Clear Ridge Fellowship Church, Everett, PA and more recently at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, McConnellsburg, PA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 140 McGoverns Lane, McConnellsburg, PA with Pastor Stanley “Wayne” Hodge officiating. Interment will be made at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Three Springs, PA. Friends may call at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt St., Hustontown, PA 4 - 8 PM on Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
