Hazel Arlene Cutchall

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)

Our beloved Mother, Hazel Arlene Cutchall, 98, departed this life and entered into her Heavenly home on October 7, 2022 in McConnellsburg, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abner and Sally (O’Neal) Black and brothers, Willis, Cloyd “Pat”, Delbert “Jack”, Merrill “Bud”, Robert “Bob” and sister, Ruth Houck. Hazel was the youngest child of her family.

She was born on the family farm in Shore Valley of Huntingdon County, PA and graduated from Hustontown High School in 1941. She moved to Pittsburgh where she worked at Switch and Signal inspecting pistols for the ongoing World War II effort. She married longtime family friend Wilford Cutchall in 1944 in Hagerstown, MD. They continued to live in Pittsburgh for several years then relocated back to the Cutchall family farm in the Waterfall area where they raised their family. After relocating to McConnellsburg in 1984, Wilford sadly passed away in 1990. Hazel is survived by her children, Roger of Hanover, Ronald and wife Alice of McConnellsburg, Kathy Stevens and husband Craig of Shippensburg and Carol McKee and husband John of McConnellsburg, eight grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a gentle lovely soul with quiet strength, a dedicated woman of God and for her quick sharp wit and delicious apple dumplings. She was a dear mother, grandmother and treasured friend to many and will be greatly missed. 

Hazel was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, McConnellsburg. She frequently volunteered at her church, at the Central Fulton schools and assisted with the Fire Hall Auxiliary meals well into her 90’s.

Hazel’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at FCMC Long Term Care for their care, love and friendship over these last four years. 

Private family services will be held at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, PA, on Wednesday, October 12, followed by burial at Center Cemetery, Waterfall, PA.

A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family in the coming months.
