Evelyn R. Brown, 91, of Mercersburg, PA and formerly of Fort Littleton, PA, died Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Mercy House of Chambersburg, Chambersburg, PA.
Born on June 16, 1933 in Fulton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Martha (Long) Leidy. She was united in marriage to Reed A. Brown. Mr. Brown preceded in death on April 8, 2002.
She is survived by children Darlene Brown and husband Peter Edmunds, Radcliff, KY, Steve Brown and wife Wilma, Burnt Cabins, PA and daughter Dian Bishop and husband Terry, Mercersburg, PA. There are 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Emma Jean Winegardner, Fort Littleton, PA also survives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Jackie Brown, granddaughter Maggie Brown and brother Charles Leidy.
Mrs. Brown was a member and elder of the Burnt Cabins Presbyterian Church, Burnt Cabins, PA and later a member of the Mercersburg Presbyterian Church, Mercersburg, PA.
During her lifetime, she was employed for 23 years as Postmaster at the Burnt Cabins Post Office. She was known for her green thumb, enjoying gardening and playing word games.
The family is planning a celebration of life service to be held at a later date.
