Carol Eileen Cline, 74, formerly of Sugar Maple Lane, Harrisonville, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, PA, where she had been a resident since September 2018.
Born May 3, 1947 at McConnellsburg, PA, she was the oldest daughter of Warren Black, who survives at the Long Term Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center and the late Vera (Brant) Black. She was united in marriage to Roy H. Cline, Jr. on July 28, 1995. Mr. Cline survives at their home.
She is also survived by two children, Troy Parsons and wife Sharon of Waterfall, PA and Shelly Morris of New Castle, PA, four granddaughters, Corrina Parsons, Kristina Parsons, Lanie Morris and Madison Morris and four siblings, Larry Black and wife Sandra of Baltimore, MD, Barbara Cutchall and husband Craig of Harrisonville, PA, Susan McKissick of Volant, PA and Peggy Baum and husband David of York, PA.
Mrs. Cline was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, PA.
She served as a physical education teacher and reading specialist at Forbes Road High School for many years. However, her true passion was coaching. She coached Jr. High Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Track and Field, Jr. High Field Hockey and most notably, Girls Varsity Field Hockey at Forbes Road. She had just finished her 40th year of coaching field hockey before falling ill to encephalitis in July 2018. She coached her teams to PIAA District Championships 19 times and was honored as The Public Opinion’s Coach of the Year eight times in her distinguished coaching career. When she wasn’t on the hockey field she could be found on her father’s farm at Waterfall, PA, where she enjoyed helping out and taking care of her father. She was an avid gardener and loved the beautiful flowers she grew. She enjoyed hosting family reunions and get togethers and cooking for everyone. She was a skilled seamstress and has left her granddaughters many handmade memories to cherish.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westminster Woods in Huntingdon for the tremendous care they have given their mother the last few years.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family, however, friends may call at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt St., Hustontown, PA 6 - 9 PM on Sunday, June 6. Interment will be made privately at Fairview Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA at a later date.
